PVM is Parallel Virtual Machine
It is a software system that enables a collection of heterogeneous computers to be used as a coherent and flexible concurrent computational resource. It is estimated that more than half the parallel programs written in the world were written using pvm. This version (3.3.9) has various bug fixes to previous version.
