Compress or decompress files using the Lempel-Ziv algorithm
It can handle HP-UX compress and pack formats, as well as single-file ZIP and results in significantly smaller files than compress. GNU are now using this format for distributing source code. This release now defaults to a .gz extension for files that have been compressed with gzip.
