HF-Lab generates heightfields for landscapes and surfaces
It can generate, manipulate, display, load and save heightfields. The display functions are greyscale previews only; it is intended that a raytracer such as POV-Ray would be used to generate the final output image.

There are run-time dependencies that need to be installed first. Why not use depothelper to install them all in one go?
