xearth-1.1
Show a shaded image of the Earth in the root window
The position (i.e. Latitude and longitude) of the centre of the image can be specified and the default behaviour is to update the image every 5 minutes to reflect the change in the Sun's position. Other options include the ability to specify the Sun's position (normally automatically calculated), the delay between updates, being able to skew the image about the vertical axis, the ability to fix the sun's position whilst the earth rotates, the brightness of the shading and to optionally write the output to a PPM or GIF file. This release now displays the location of 36 major cities around the world and also supports monochrome displays.
